Leading up to Koi No Yokan

Deftones have gone a long way since their first album Adrenaline! This album includes very dirty and fast paced guitars, vocals and drums. The next album, Around the Fur, included many of the same things, but with much more melody. Then White Pony, which is considered their best album, came out and blew everyone away! The famous song off of that album, Change (In the House of Flies), includes very hushed vocals and the singer has a smooth tenor and gets a very nice melodic sound out of it. Their next album that is self-titled is very similar to White Pony just a little more heavier, more melodic and in my opinion a little better as well. The fourth album is a b-sides album that includes a lot of covers that I enjoy, but that is pretty much it. Saturday Night Wrist, their fifth album, is completely different to the first three! It sold a significant amount of copies less than the others because of that. This album is my all-time favorite Deftones album because it is SO MELODIC! I love melodic music if you haven't guessed already because I can really drift off when I listen to it, but I especially like melodic metal because not only do I drift, I JAM THE F@#$ OUT! Anyways Saturday Night Wrist is my favorite. The sixth album is Diamond Eyes. In this album they seemed to find their way back to what the fans loved about them in their earlier albums. They also got a new bassist because their first one got in a car accident and has been in the hospital for four years and remains there. He shows some progress.  On Diamond Eyes the song "Sextape" is a very calm song that I find extremely hypnotizing. I'm listening to it right now and I'm finding it very difficult to type this. Their latest album that was released on the 12th of this month and year is kind of the same thing to Diamond Eyes. I just think it is a tad better because of one track called "Rosemary." The build up from the verse to the pre-chorus is absolutely tremendous in sound! It gives me chills!
In conclusion Deftones' sound simply changed from fast to slow. Now I leave you with my two favorite Deftones songs cause it's too hard to choose. Koi No Yokan translates to premonition of love
